Album Narrative

Paradise of Bachelors is pleased to offer Hiss Golden Messenger’s Lord I Love the Rain (jayf 15), a stunning compilation of previously unreleased new songs, outtakes, alternate versions, and covers, which is otherwise unavailable on vinyl in the U.S.

Originally released as a digital-only EP, the collection has been reconstituted as a fully realized long playing album that juxtaposes grainy kitchen table gospel and dusted imaginary sci-fi soundtrack pieces alongside dead-of-night renditions of Michael Hurley’s “The Revenant” and Ronnie Lane’s “Tell Everyone.” Lord I Love the Rain is the sound of Hiss Golden Messenger after hours.

Recorded in Pittsboro, Oxford and Durham, North Carolina, LILTR features M.C. Taylor, Scott Hirsch, Terry Lonergan, Bobby Crow, Elijah Lee Taylor and Matt Cunitz. The album was mixed by Scott Hirsch at Echo Magic, Brooklyn, NY, and mastered by Anthony Puglisi at Sentrall West, Los Angeles, CA.
