A song rolls
Through the family tree
And blood flows
Through the roots of you and me

Maniacal Praise
An exquisite corpse as family scrapbook, so personal in its intent it also functions like a freewheeling conversation around a big dinner table … A beautiful swamp of relatively quotidian elements in surreal juxtapositions, which end up documenting a journey into unknown realms … The musical mood remains as inviting as hell … So sit down/ pass the tequila and pork pozole, and prepare to be revelated. – Byron Coley, The Wire
9/10, Americana Album of the Month. A celebration of familial love and togetherness … The beauty of this warm, convivial double album lies in its almost minimal spaciousness. – Uncut
A sensational assault … makes you want to start right back at the beginning as soon as you exit … It takes a hell of a piece of music to bring us back to ourselves, but Blood Sucking Maniacs will do it … That’s a hell of an achievement from the Allen crew. And Blood Sucking Maniacs is a hell of an album. – Cowboy Jamboree
Exquisite … [It] illuminates the Allen family as a crucial branch on the beautifully gnarled-up tree of Texas tradition … Terry Allen’s consistently been more art-school than typically outlaw, and so it remains with the superb family excursion of Blood Sucking Maniacs. – The Vinyl District
Stepping into Terry Allen’s world is always worth doing … As always, Paradise of Bachelors go all out on the packaging, with a gatefold cover and booklet. – MOJO
The Allen family’s life has been as much an inspiration for me as Terry’s wonderful art and music. – David Byrne
Terry Allen is my hero. – Kurt Vile
