NATHAN BOWLES & STEVE GUNN VIDEOS for Repeal Day
December 5th also happens to be Repeal Day (recognizing the end of Prohibition in the U.S.), which seems a particularly apropos time to share some videos featuring the music of Nathan Bowles and Steve Gunn.
Today we’re premiering the final of five Nathan Bowles videos shot by Jesse Sheppard, this one featuring a rousing live performance of Nansemond vocal/banjo number “Jonah/Poor Liza Jane,” shot in Nathan’s home in Blacksburg, Virginia. Follow the link below to watch it; check out the PoB YouTube channel here for more videos and audio by PoB artists.
You can buy Nansemond here. (It just scored the #16 spot on this Uncut Editor’s Diary list!)
It’s been a big year for Steve Gunn, whose Way Out Weather is beginning to appear on many year-end best-of lists, including MOJO’s (at #6.)
In case you missed it during last week’s holiday rush, Noisey posted a great feature-length interview with Steve Gunn that included the premiere of a short film inspired by the final song on Way Out Weather, “Tommy’s Congo,” which you can watch below. Sculptor and real-life metalworker Ana Djordjevic stars in this film directed by acclaimed Serbian filmmaker Nikola Ležaić and shot in Belgrade in September.
