Steve Gunn’s “Way Out Weather” Video Premieres on Stereogum.

“Way Out Weather,” the title track off the new Steve Gunn album, “is a sun-dappled, easy highway song, the gleam of guitar pressing against the tarriness of Gunn’s voice,” as described by The Guardian. Shot while on a 1000K motorcycle trek through Mongolia in 2007, KT Auleta’s dreamlike video for “Way Out Weather” is a gorgeous, expansive visual accompaniment.

Nathan Bowles: Nansemond (PoB-016)

A cinematic suite of contemplative, elastic set pieces that conjures the titular Virginian river/tribe/extinct county, the second solo album by Nathan Bowles (Black Twig Pickers, Pelt, Steve Gunn, HGM) deploys banjo, percussion, piano, and voice to explore the rugged country between the poles of Appalachian old-time traditions and ecstatic, minimalist drone. Featuring Tom Carter.

Lavender Country Hits the Road.

Never did we imagine when we first starting working with our friend Patrick Haggerty of Lavender Country that he’d one day hit the road again with a new band to take his songs and stories of gay liberation to the people. But here we are. So come out, come to Lavender Country!

Harvest Records: Transfigurations II Festival.

Here at PoB, we’re big fans of Harvest Records in Asheville, NC, and so we are thrilled about their upcoming festival Transfigurations II, featuring Steve Gunn, Hiss Golden Messenger, and many other PoB pals. Join us for the festival of the summer this Labor Day weekend.

Nathan Bowles Joins the Brotherhood of Bachelors.

We are delighted to welcome our friend Brother Nathan Bowles–he of Pelt, The Black Twig Pickers, Steve Gunn’s band, Hiss Golden Messenger, etc.–to the PoB fold. Stay tuned for more details about his forthcoming album Nansemond, which is, in our estimation, one of the best sounding and most sonically immersive albums thus far in the PoB catalog.
