For those of you inclined otherwise on Record Store Day—or immune to its charms—we are happy to announce that we now have copies of our RSD 2016 exclusive release, the first-ever reissue of Mike Cooper and Derek Hall’s 1965 EP, for sale directly from our website. The EP is available as a limited-edition 45rpm vinyl 7”—featuring heavy-duty color jacket, restored original artwork, and notes—as well as (for the first time) digitally.

JUAREZ Week: Rolling Stone Streams Terry Allen’s Masterpiece + The Quietus Shares the Accompanying Lithographs.

In advance of its release on Friday, May 20, Rolling Stone Country is streaming the entirety of Terry Allen’s 1975 debut masterpiece in all its remastered glory, along with an accompanying feature. The Quietus goes deep on the accompanying, little-seen suite of related lithographs. And Terry presents the MemWars performance at SITE Santa Fe this week.

Terry Allen Premieres Live “What of Alicia” Video.

Texas Monthly has shared a new video of Allen and his sons Bukka and Bale performing “What of Alicia,” one of the narrative hinges of the Juarez cycle, earlier this year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. TTU recently honored influential Lubbock natives Terry and his wife Jo Harvey with the inauguration of The Allen Collection, an extensive archive to house artwork and ephemera by both artists.

Itasca Joins the PoB Family.

We’re delighted to welcome Itasca, the musical project of Los Angeles-based guitarist and songwriter Kayla Cohen, to the PoB roster. Stay tuned for more details on a new album to be released in late 2016. We are pleased to announce the first-ever reissue of folk & experimental music icon Mike Cooper’s earliest recordings & PoB’s very first official Record Store Day exclusive release. Named for The Shades, the Reading, UK folk club where Cooper regularly performed, & which housed prodigy Derek Hall—“a guitarist who could actually match Davey Graham both in technique and musical ideas” —this rare EP was issued in 1965. Get it only on RSD 2016.

PoB Artists at SXSW 2016.

The behemoth known as SXSW is almost upon us, and several PoB artists will be joining the melee, including rare appearances by Lavender Country, both live onstage (with some special guests sitting in) and at festival world premiere screenings of the new documentary short These C*cksucking Tears. The Weather Station and Nap Eyes will also each be playing several shows.
