Mystery Tapes/Reel to Real: Or, a PoB-03 Teaser.

Paradise of Bachelors is preparing two upcoming releases, which are closely related both to each other and to the blackwater swamps of Southeastern North Carolina, though we can’t divulge any details at the moment. Suffice it to say that we anticipate an autumn release and that the project involves listening to and transferring miles of never-released 1/4″ tape, an endeavor eased by the recently acquired Otari Magnetic Orator Machine (O, MOM) pictured above.

David Lee accepts the Brown-Hudson Award.

David Lee visited Chapel Hill on the weekend of April 2nd with eight family members in order to accept the North Carolina Folklore Society’s Brown-Hudson Award. Our very full weekend included lunch with Bill Ferris and other pals, an interview for NPR’s The Story (which will be airing shortly), and of course, David’s performance of “I Can’t Believe You’re Gone” and “I’ll Never Get Over Losing You,” accompanied by a cassette deck he brought from Shelby.
